My Vintage Handheld Computer Collection

SHARP PC1401 POCKET COMPUTER

This boy is from 1982 and still in good shape. You can use it as a scientific calculator and is also BASIC programmable. It's very thin and light. I think the pinacle of the computer revolution happened when these devices hit the market.

TI-53 CALCULATOR

This is one of the first programmable calculators. Still has the original batteries. Very old.

CASSIOPEIA A11 HANDHELD LAPTOP

I bought this H/PC a while ago off Ebay. Unfortunately, because it has Windows CE 1.0 it cannot syncronize with my PC running XP. There are very few free applications for Windows CE. I used Pocket Excel for a while and used it as a PDA and to write stuff down in Pocket Word.

TI-85 CALCULATOR

This is my graphic calculator. I especially like the easy to use unit conversion feature.

Itronix 5200 Handheld PC

I just got this Itronix T5200 around 2000 vintage. It's heavy-3lbs, but it's ruggedized and has a carrying handle. It's thicker than most laptops but I don't mind because it is smaller overall and that's what counts. Plus it can take abuse so I can just throw it in a bag or in the car if needed. It can run from external power. I am buying a PCMCIA wireless network card for it-it's wireless enabled but for cellular and I'm not planning to subscribe to that. Unfortunately it doesn't have an USB connection but it syncronizes fine through the serial port. This one I got from ebay and it came with a flash storage card for total of 64mb of storage. The screen has some scratches and blemishes but for the price - $47 including shipping, it was a good deal methinks. I plan to do some programming on it-so far I only have BasiCE, run games, even browse the net - 16 shades of gray...not the best but pages load suprisingly well. I prefer this over a laptop because it can take abuse. Battery time is pretty good too considering its age. I'd worry too much about a laptop....I'd have to carry it in a bag...this little guy can even acommodate a strap. Plus it looks like something from an 80s Sci-Fi movie

Jornada 680E H/PC

I recently purchased this baby off Craigslist. I was able to get the WiFI card to work on it. I also bought a couple of CF memory cards off Ebay which I will install soon to increase storage space. I love the keyboard as I can type really fast on it.
